SEN Learning Support Assistant

A welcoming and supportive primary school in the heart of Horsham is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Global Developmental Delay (GDD). The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, develop social skills, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day; Adapt learning activities to suit the child’s individual needs; Promote engagement, independence, and positive learning behaviours; Support emotional regulation and implement agreed behaviour strategies when required; Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team; Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

Requirements

Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting; Experience working with pupils with Autism and additional learning needs; A calm, patient, and nurturing approach; Confidence managing and supporting children who may display challenging behaviours when dysregulated; Excellent communication and teamwork skills; A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
