Senior Mechanical Technician

As Senior Mechanical Technician in the days team at Prudhoe, you’ll lead defined maintenance activities with a focus on mechanical systems. You’ll be accountable for the performance and reliability of machinery through preventative and predictive maintenance strategies. This hands-on role is central to our ambition of zero breakdowns and zero stops, and will contribute to both short-term performance and long-term asset development.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage defined maintenance activities on mechanical systems; Manage and plan mechanical work on site, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and legal standards; Coach and support operational colleagues in resolving mechanical issues and improving machine reliability; Own mechanical maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement to meet departmental objectives; Manage mechanical work through SAP (CMMS), ensuring accurate planning, execution, and documentation; Oversee mechanical contractors and uphold high standards of work, including quality audits and commissioning; Lead and mentor junior technicians, fostering skill development and capability growth; Maintain workshop standards and ensure permit control and health & safety adherence

Requirements

Completed a recognised multi-skilled or mechanical engineering apprenticeship; Proven mechanical experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments; Strong troubleshooting skills and experience maintaining complex automated manufacturing systems, including large rotating equipment and hydraulics; Skilled in planning, mentoring, and problem-solving, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines; Experience using SAP for maintenance planning and execution
