Senior Pipeline Engineer

Job Overview: The Senior Pipeline Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Pipeline (Eng) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Pipeline (Eng) discipline. The Senior Pipeline Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Pipeline Engineer impacts a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the Pipeline (Eng) team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering for onshore and offshore pipeline systems; Perform conceptual, FEED, Studies, and detailed analyses and design; Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures; Communicate and explain complex issues; Be fully familiar with project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements; Identify changes to scope and raise change notifications; Assist in preparation of estimates for bid proposals; Raise technical queries; Prepare discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications; Participate in finalizing deliverables lists and deliverables; Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys; Provide technical direction and review of designers; Prepare and review design reports and procedures; Assist in providing design inputs to other disciplines; Assist procurement personnel; Assist in updating weight report; Review vendor and subcontractor submittals; Perform design verification through single-discipline check/inter-discipline check; Provide technical support to fabrication queries; Keep Lead Engineer apprised of all activities and concerns; Assist in providing inputs for progress reports; Check final subcontractor and vendor data manuals; Participate in internal, Customer, and third-party technical audits; Assist Lead Engineer with responses to Customer and agencies; Capture lessons learned; Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; Guide less experienced engineers; Be aware of costs related to own work; Prepare/review pipeline material specifications, datasheets, fabrication specifications, installation specifications, design and installation analyses, material takeoffs, pipeline reports and installation manuals; Perform/review wall thickness designs, on-bottom stability analyses, cathodic protection designs, free-span analyses, expansion and rigid riser stress analyses, route selection designs, bottom roughness evaluations, crossing support designs, dropped object protection structure designs, clamp designs, subsea structure designs, shore approach designs, onshore pipeline designs, buckling mitigation designs, seismic analyses, and installation analyses

Requirements

8-15 years of experience in Oil and Gas with a major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail design; Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Strong working knowledge of many design techniques and analysis methods; Detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards codes and guidelines as applicable; Seasoned knowledge of engineering standards and specifications; Good knowledge of engineering software; Able to work independently; Good working knowledge of English, both oral and written; HSE, TQM and cost-conscious; Good organizer, motivator, and supervisor; Keen on improving the effectiveness of the work; Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over

Nice to have

Master’s degree (preferred); Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society (preferred)
