Responsibilities

Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and other equipment to install UG plant facilities; Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently; Perform utility exposes (potholing) and understand the utility locate process; Locate other utilities as needed and maintain clearances from other utilities, ground, road, highway, sidewalk, and non-pedestrian areas; Transport, handle, and place conduits (rolled and stick) in a proper manner; Properly transport and install fiber reels; Install fiber cables in conduits following proper procedures; Set and secure pedestals and vaults accurately; Read and interpret network prints; Adhere to OSHA safety requirements to ensure safe and efficient completion of the job(s); Maintain regular phone communication throughout the workday; Follow directions provided by the crew leader; Perform any other duties as assigned

Requirements

Previous experience operating directional drills is required; High school diploma or equivalent; Combination of technical training and/or relevant experience; Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position; Flexibility to work nights and weekends, if necessary; Ability to work in all weather conditions; Valid driver's license; Authorized to work in the United States; Must pass drug, background, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screenings; Travel to other project sites in different states may be required; Travel may be for up to a 14-day period; Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; Reach with hands and arms; Stand, talk, and hear frequently
