After School Program Leader

Responsible for being on-site at all program sessions and for assisting participants to take part in the planned activities, providing positive behavior support and supporting children with challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

Being on-site at all program sessions and assisting participants to take part in planned activities, providing positive behavior support and supporting children with challenging behaviors; Leading program activities (giving instructions, helping students participate, monitoring safety); Planning programs as a team (writing activity plans, purchasing supplies, preparing materials); Program delivery, debrief, clean up, and preparing snacks for students; Working individually with students who have disabilities, diverse abilities, or challenges; Managing and reporting challenging behaviors, as well as promoting prosocial behavior; Building rapport with students, expressing a caring attitude, and modeling positive leadership; Recording attendance and other documentation as needed; Adhering to all ASSAI, HG Rec, and School District #50 policies; Maintaining a high standard of health and safety during all activities; Participating in training and development opportunities when offered

Requirements

Clear criminal record & vulnerable sector checks; Strong leadership, creativity, and assertiveness skills, being comfortable to lead activities with groups of up to 15 students; Experience and an interest in building strong rapport with children aged 5-12; Knowledge of age-appropriate, fun, and safe sports and/or arts activities; A working knowledge of healthy child development; Complete required certifications with funding from HG Rec (First Aid, Food Safe, & HIGH FIVE®)

Nice to have

Ability to travel between Masset & Port Clements is an asset; Proficiency in Google Drive and access to a laptop and internet connection are assets; Ability to act as a Support Worker and a Program Leader is an asset
