Senior Actuary

Alan exists to end the wait and build prevention as the new norm in health insurance. The Insurance team designs and prices insurance offers, monitors the business and risks, and helps the team understand the subtleties of healthcare and insurance. The Insurance Expert role in Belgium focuses on building products and pricing strategies, bringing insurance expertise to win large customers, entering new segments such as the public sector, enhancing portfolio monitoring, strengthening regulatory relationships, and working with engineers on tailored insurance offers at scale.

Responsibilities

Design and price insurance offers; Monitor the business and the risks; Help the rest of the team understand the subtleties of healthcare and insurance; Build winning products and pricing strategies to unlock new segments; Bring insurance expertise to help sign the largest customers in Belgium; Enter new segments such as the public sector to unlock new growth in Belgium; Enhance portfolio monitoring as it grows in scale and complexity; Strengthen relationships with regulatory bodies and improve compliance; Work with engineers to build tools to create tailored insurance offers at scale

Requirements

5+ years of experience in the insurance sector, with meaningful exposure to health insurance products (hospitalisation, group insurance, disability or dental); Fluent in English and Dutch; Scientific background (actuarial sciences, statistics, mathematics or data science) combined with practical experience in insurance (product, pricing, regulatory or analytics); Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data, business and legal questions into actionable outputs; Builder mindset, continuously identifying opportunities to improve and scale processes and systems; Willingness to deeply change the insurance and healthcare industry and challenge the status quo; Communicates in a clear, structured and to-the-point way (written and spoken); Hiring level within the C1-E range
