Individual Needs Assistant

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Eastbourne is seeking an enthusiastic Individual Needs Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs. The role is perfect for someone who understands that progress looks different for every child. You will become a trusted and consistent adult in a child's school journey, helping them feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

Responsibilities

Support pupils with SEND across the classroom and wider school environment; Provide individual support tailored to pupils’ needs; Assist with communication, social development and emotional wellbeing; Help pupils access learning activities and classroom routines; Encourage independence and confidence; Work closely with teaching staff and SEND professionals; Support a positive and inclusive school culture

Requirements

Genuine passion for supporting children; Caring, resilient and adaptable; Calm and positive in challenging situations; Experience supporting children with additional needs; Builds relationships based on trust and consistency; Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals; Right to work in the UK; Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one); Two professional references; Strong understanding of safeguarding

Nice to have

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant; Previous experience as SEN Teaching Assistant; Previous experience as Care Assistant; Previous experience as Youth Worker
