Senior General Liability Claims Adjuster

The General Liability Claims Adjuster (Commercial) is responsible for managing all aspects of the claims process, from initial investigation through final resolution, while ensuring each claim is handled promptly, thoroughly, and fairly. This position involves evaluating and resolving claims arising from bodily injury, property damage, premises liability, and products/completed operations. The adjuster will oversee a caseload of moderate to complex matters, maintaining compliance with company best practices, policy provisions, and applicable legal standards.

Responsibilities

Review claims documentation (photos, estimates, incident reports, contracts) to assess damages and scope of loss; Investigate liability by obtaining statements, reviewing police and incident reports, and analyzing evidence; Manage claims from initial notice through final resolution, including carrier reporting; Negotiate equitable and timely settlements within assigned authority levels; Handle litigated claims in collaboration with defense counsel, including pleadings, discovery, and mediations; Act as primary point of contact for policyholders and claimants, providing coverage guidance; Maintain detailed file documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards; Ensure regulatory and procedural compliance in all claims handling; Interpret policy language, endorsements, and exclusions; prepare reservation of rights and coverage letters

Requirements

Independent Adjustor License in home state or a designated home state; Minimum of 7 years of experience handling commercial general liability claims; Prior experience handling litigated claims; Past experience handling Directors & Officers claims; Strong understanding of commercial general liability coverage forms and legal liability principles; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting detailed coverage letters, evaluations and reports; Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills; Proficiency with claim management systems and Microsoft Office Suite; Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; High degree of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail; California license must be obtained within 60 days of hire; Ability to work at a desk for extended periods

Nice to have

Texas or California licensure preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred; Experience handling habitational and premises liability claims preferred
