Accountant

The accountant manages the general ledger and accounting operations for the Germany location of TSE Brakes, GmbH. Operating with a high degree of initiative and analytical problem-solving, this individual takes full ownership of assigned corporate finance duties. The role collaborates closely with the US Controller and local management to ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial filings. Additionally, the Accountant partners across departments to maintain policy compliance and provides front office support as needed.

Responsibilities

Resolve routine financial data issues promptly; Independently manage and resolve complex critical problems with minimal guidance; Prepare and perform month end closing procedures in compliance with accounting standards; Assist company Controller with preparation of financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and management reports; Understand and supervise all daily accounting functions including accounts payable, inventory, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll; Maintain integrity of general ledger and perform monthly review and reconciliation of all ledger accounts; Prepare consolidation of related divisions including eliminating and intercompany transactions; Conduct analysis, provide data and reports on variances, monthly and semi-annual budgets, forecasts, ledgers; Assist with preparation of annual budget and monthly variance analysis; Establish and maintain strong working relationships with management team; Prepare and distribute critical date reports and monthly/quarterly reports; Gain full understanding of TSE Brakes accounting functions; Assist with development of short-term and long-term strategic accounting plans; Maintain strong business relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues; Work with consultant to file VAT filings for TSE Brakes Inc and Germany; Work with consultant to file income tax filing; Supervise inventory controls; Lead annual physical inventory and cycle count process; Perform HR duties such as hiring, termination, managing accruals and providing information to payroll consultants; Manage fixed assets for TSE Brakes GmbH

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training; Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor; Ability to effectively present information to an internal group; Ability to fluently communicate in German and English; General knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger accounting; Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations; Ability to solve problems in standard situations; Basic analytical skills; Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs at a time; Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; Occasionally stoop, kneel, bend, or twist; Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear; Travel will be required
