Anesthesia Technician LGH

Full time, 32 hours per week. Schedule: 0630-1500 Monday-Thursday. One or two weekends a year are required. One holiday on call per year is required.

Responsibilities

Sets up monitoring equipment in the operating room (operating table, autotransfusion system, ECG and temperature cables, hyper/hypothermia blanket, medication and pressure manifolds, rapid infusion warmer, recorders, defibrillators, patient monitoring system, TEE machines); During surgical procedures, assists in insertion of arterial pressure lines, central venous and Swan-Ganz catheters, draws arterial and/or venous blood samples, checks ventilators, operates monitor and recording systems, identifies intubation blades and fiberoptic bronchoscopes and other special equipment for difficult intubation; Calibrates all pressures and recording systems within the patient monitoring system; Assists in transfers of patients to and from the operating room, collects and transports data sheets, establishes ECG and pressure monitoring at destination; Cleans non-disposable equipment after each procedure, performs daily maintenance checks and stocks equipment; Moves anesthesia equipment to proper surgical suite and checks connections and gases; Maintains adequate supply of equipment and items in anesthesia carts; Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions or failures and returns equipment to safe operating condition, using backup equipment when necessary; Provides age-appropriate care per department policies and procedures

Requirements

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 6 months unless the department leader determines it is not required; High School Graduate; Typically requires 1 year of experience in a surgical, medical or related healthcare setting; Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; Basic computer proficiency; Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others); Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job; Must stand the majority of the workday, as well as sit, walk, and lift throughout; Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head; Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance; Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force; Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present; Exposure to chemical and radiation hazards (protective clothing worn as necessary); Working atmosphere may contain fumes and odors from Operating Room
