Application Administrator II

The Application Administrator II builds, maintains, monitors, and audits on-premises application installations. This may include, but is not limited to, ensuring security standards are applied, troubleshooting, implementing new solutions, and participating in projects to upgrade components or whole systems. May review and provide recommendations for architecture standards related to on-premises applications and may participate in the evaluation of cloud solutions and combinations of cloud and on-premises solutions. The Application Administrator II participates in on-call rotations, working independently during daily development efforts, system maintenance, and instances of system failures. Serves on project teams and identifies and evaluates risks and opportunities for efficiencies. The Application Administrator II is part of a team that supports the planning and implementation of new systems or functions and ensures that application maintenance and upgrades are delivered on time and with quality.

Responsibilities

Builds, maintains, monitors, and audits on-premises application installations; Ensures security standards are applied, troubleshoots, implements new solutions, and participates in projects to upgrade components or whole systems; Participates in on-call rotations, working independently during daily development efforts, system maintenance, and instances of system failures; Serves on project teams and identifies and evaluates risks and opportunities for efficiencies; Provides technical support for, and may lead, non-production and production environments, including troubleshooting and remediation of technical issues; Works with technical resources and functional/business analysts on application, database, server, or security requirements; Designs technical enhancements to support the application, database, server, or security landscape; Actively participates in, and may lead, application administration, maintenance, or implementation plan walkthroughs; Actively participates in, and may lead, testing of newly developed applications, integrations, systems, solutions, and upgrades; Maintains a deep and broad knowledge of technology, equipment, and/or systems in the assigned application areas; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School diploma and 3 years of related experience required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience; Excellent verbal and written communications skills required; Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required; Ability to participate in on-call rotations required; Epic Certification in Cogito Administration (I and II) within 12 months of hire

Nice to have

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Science or Engineering preferred; Experience in higher education or healthcare field preferred; Experience with interface, networking, design, and relational database technologies preferred; Experience supporting Cloud and on premises applications preferred; Experience with multi-tier applications employing application and web servers preferred; Experience with project management from planning through implementation preferred; Ability to learn new technologies quickly and help team members embrace technology change preferred; Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results preferred; Strong understanding of system/application administration activities preferred; Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL or related database experience preferred; Solid understanding of Web Server, App Server and/or Database interactivities preferred; Solid understanding of application infrastructure and architecture – Specifically EPIC as it relates to Cogito Environments preferred; Experience with Denodo or other data virtualization/federation platforms preferred; Exposure to ETL tools (Informatica, SSIS, or similar) supporting the data warehouse pipeline preferred
