Assistant Nurse Manager - Emergency Department

This job manages, supervises, and coordinates the daily operations of a specific patient care department under the direction of the Nurse Manager, providing clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. Contributes to the strategic planning process and attainment of goals of the department/unit, the organization and network.

Responsibilities

Manages, supervises, and coordinates daily operations of a specific patient care department under direction of Nurse Manager, providing clinical and administrative leadership and expertise; Contributes to strategic planning process and attainment of goals; Serves as change agent and role model for change; Conducts monthly unit conferences; Completes annual performance appraisals; Promotes unit-based shared governance and professional development; Promotes nursing specialty certification and employee engagement; Ensures patient care delivered in accordance with professional standards, patient safety goals and regulatory guidelines; Monitors departmental performance and develops action plans for unmet goals; Participates in regulatory readiness and operational excellence projects; Works collaboratively with patients, families, peers, and other departments; Investigates patient/departmental concerns; Rounds daily to assess patient and family needs; Ensures effective implementation of financial plan and fiscal stewardship; Maintains budget and completes variance reports; Fosters staff development through coaching and mentoring; Assures orientation, education, credentialing and professional development; Conducts quarterly check-ins with assigned staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire or transfer; 1 year of demonstrated clinical leadership experience; Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC); CPR certification; Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate; Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate; Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
