Cardiac Sonography and Echocardiography Technologist - Per Diem - Days - MPG

Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

Coordinates patient care with other members of the healthcare team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes; When applicable, prepares and administers ultrasound enhancing agents (UEA) and/or medications within scope of practice; Monitors patient condition and reports changes in status as align with department policy; May travel to satellite locations to perform diagnostic procedures; Performs advanced diagnostic imaging (3D, myocardial mechanics, mechanical circulatory support devices, transcatheter therapies, etc.), when applicable; Reviews patient history and physician's orders; Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation; Prepares equipment and supplies; Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters; Applies safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment; Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary; Ensures proper working order of equipment; Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s); Analyzes imaging results and takes appropriate action to improve image quality for optimal results; Enters, transmits, and reports thorough comprehensive preliminary report of study data to physician staff

Requirements

Accredited Program: Ultrasound Technologist (Required); Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); BLS American Heart E-Card; BLS American Heart RQI E-Card; BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard; BLS Certification Grace; BLS Cert Red Cross; Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program; Associates degree (or higher) in a related field acceptable in lieu of completion of an Ultrasound Imaging/Sonographer Program; Adult Echocardiography: One (1) year of experience working in an IAC accredited institution (or credentialed new grad within 1 year of graduation); Pediatric Echocardiography: One (1) year of experience imaging congenital heart defect and surgical repairs in an IAC accredited institution (or new grad within 1 year; must obtain credential within six (6) months); Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision; Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
