Claims Lawyer

An international business operating in the shipping and maritime sector is seeking a Claims Lawyer to join its London-based legal team. This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-value maritime claims and disputes while providing commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across operations, chartering, technical and safety functions.

Responsibilities

Managing a broad range of shipping and maritime claims; Advising on charterparty, cargo, casualty and contractual disputes; Working closely with operational teams to assess risk and develop practical solutions; Liaising with insurers, external counsel and other industry stakeholders; Supporting the business on legal strategy and claims resolution.

Requirements

Qualified Lawyer with c.5-10+ PQE in shipping claims; Experience in shipping, maritime law or marine insurance; Background gained in private practice, a P&I Club, insurer or in-house environment; Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage matters from inception through to resolution; Commercially minded, proactive and able to build relationships across a business.
