Cook

Join our culinary team at Banner Olive Branch Senior Center. This position produces all required food items based on information obtained from production sheets, catering requests, prep sheets and any other approved source. Plans and conducts daily work to meet food production and service time requirements. Full time, 40 hours, Monday to Friday, 5:00am to 1:30pm.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook hot and cold food items using standardized recipes; Calculate production quantities based on production forecast, tally sheets and catering orders; May be assigned to the retail cafe grill area and/or cook breakfast items; Record overproduction and run outs; Write directions and calculate production quantities; Check and log food and equipment temperatures and report problems to the supervisor; Report needed equipment repairs; Maintain par levels of food and supplies, order and/or restock items, rotate food stocks and check freshness dates; Keep assigned work areas clean and orderly; Assist other kitchen and dietary staff as needed; May oversee the scheduled shift for efficiency; May deal with customers in grill or exhibition positions in retail units

Requirements

Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certificate; One or more years of work experience in production cooking; Knowledge and abilities in institutional food production; Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures; Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions; Effective communication; Ability to perform simple math calculations; Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required; Good interpersonal skills; Ability to perform tasks within limited time frames; Ability to follow production and cleaning schedules; Ability to use chemicals safely and read thermometers; Ability to follow safety requirements; Must be 18 years of age or older; Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire, maintained for the duration of employment
