CT Technologist - Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Main PRN Weekends

CT Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient; Refers questionable orders to Radiologist and contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies; Properly identifies and assists patients while offering explanation of procedures; Interviews patients for complete medical history and reviews EMRs; Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning until completion of dictated results; Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols; Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with Radiologist if needed; Performs basic patient care functions and initiates life support measures when necessary; Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures; Practices radiation safety standards; Reports malfunctioning equipment and maintains knowledge for safe work environment; Adheres to hospital fire and safety procedures and completes required safety modules; Rotates shifts as required including call back, holidays, and weekends; Operates radiology computer system and documents contrast administration; Maintains assigned work area stocked and clean; Assists other medical personnel such as anesthesia when performing exams in conjunction with CT scan

Requirements

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology; ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine; Advanced registry from the ARRT in CT within one year of hire; BLS certification; Knowledge of the principles of growth and development; Skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served; Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies
