Director, Project Financing

Gotion Inc. is based in Silicon Valley, CA, currently building a Manufacturing facility in Manteno, IL and has R&D centers in Ohio, China, Japan and Europe. We innovate in the next generation electric vehicle and energy storage technologies (lithium batteries and related systems) with the aim to accelerate electrified transportation and achieve sustainable development. Gotion is powered by a leading power battery technology company that provides solutions for vehicles including the world's first mass commercial e-bus route. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Project Finance to lead financing efforts for our solar and green energy projects. This role is critical in structuring and securing project financing, managing investor relationships, and ensuring financial viability across multiple renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project finance, renewable energy investments, and financial modeling, with a proven track record of closing complex financial transactions.

Responsibilities

Lead the financing strategy for solar and green energy projects, including debt, tax equity, and other investment structures; Develop and execute financial models to support project valuation, risk assessment, and funding decisions; Structure project finance deals, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), tax equity investments, and loan agreements; Negotiate and secure financing from banks, private investors, and institutional lenders; Develop and maintain relationships with banks, investment funds, private equity firms, and other financial institutions; Lead due diligence efforts and coordinate with legal, engineering, and development teams to support project execution; Represent the company in financing discussions, investor meetings, and industry conferences; Conduct financial analysis on potential and ongoing projects to ensure profitability and risk mitigation; Monitor financial performance metrics, market trends, and industry regulations that impact project financing; Work with internal teams to optimize project costs, pricing structures, and financing mechanisms

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; 10+ years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or financial structuring, with a focus on renewable energy; Proven track record of successfully closing financing deals for solar, wind, or other renewable energy projects; Strong understanding of tax equity financing, debt structuring, and PPA negotiations; Proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment, and investment analysis; Knowledge of federal and state renewable energy incentives, regulatory policies, and market dynamics; Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills

Nice to have

MBA or CFA preferred; Experience working with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) or Renewable Energy Developers; Understanding of tax equity structures such as ITC (Investment Tax Credit) and PTC (Production Tax Credit); Familiarity with green bonds, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) financing, and impact investing; Experience working with international renewable energy projects (if applicable)
