Engineering Manager - Mobile

Human Interest is seeking an Engineering Manager to build and lead a new mobile engineering team. The role combines technical leadership with people management to drive mobile app execution and a high-performance engineering culture for the company's mobile platforms, which serve employees managing retirement accounts and 401(k) plan administrators. The role is greenfield: the successor will hire the team, define mobile architecture, and build release pipelines, QA infrastructure, and telemetry from the ground up.

Responsibilities

Recruit and hire 3+ mobile engineers; Develop and scale a high-performing team across iOS, Android, and cross-platform disciplines; Drive execution of mobile roadmaps across employee and company admin product surfaces; Provide technical leadership on mobile architecture, device fragmentation, and AI-assisted engineering tools; Oversee release engineering practices, including pipeline management, build sign-offs, staged rollouts, feature flag rollouts, and cross-device QA verification; Partner with product management, UX design, operations, and backend teams; Establish and maintain mobile observability using tools such as Braze, Sentry, or Datadog; Mentor the team and work closely with Product and Design

Requirements

5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams, with a strong focus on mobile application delivery; Proven track record of shipping production iOS, Android, or cross-platform (React Native/Flutter/Kotlin Multiplatform) apps across multiple store release cycles; Experience with mobile release operations, store submission guidelines, and feature flag management; Deep technical background in mobile software engineering (Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Flutter, or Kotlin Multiplatform); Understanding of mobile architecture trade-offs, device farms, automated UI testing (XCUITest, Espresso, Appium), client-side telemetry, and API contract design; Excellent communication (verbal and written) and mentorship abilities; Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

Nice to have

Experience managing complex, multi-persona mobile applications (consumer and enterprise/admin portal surfaces); Experience with fintech, security-sensitive applications, or regulated domains; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (strongly preferred)
