Environmental Svcs Tech I - Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center PT Nights

Responsibilities

Clean/disinfect assigned area(s) by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, patient televisions, windows, furniture, tile, fixtures, appliances, floors, and equipment with appropriate cleaning solutions; Operate various equipment following department procedures; Use chemicals and solutions following department policy; Keep work areas in orderly, clean and safe condition; Clean and sanitize beds and rooms when patients are discharged; Select cleaning materials and supplies and transport them to work area; Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues, and soap; Routinely collect waste and sanitize garbage cans; Observe Standard (Universal) Precautions, Infection Control Policies, and department policies; Clean or sanitize after emergency spills as requested; Prepare detergents, germicidal solutions and other cleaning/disinfecting solutions according to established formulas; Sweep, dust mop, wet mop floors and spot clean carpets; Move equipment and furniture for cleaning, rearrangement and/or relocation; Collect and/or distribute soiled and clean linens; Collect hazardous and medical waste according to Infection Control Committee procedures; Separate regular and recycle trash; Demonstrate customer satisfaction and professional conduct with patients, families and staff

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience; Able to operate small electrical equipment e.g., vacuum cleaners; Excellent customer service skills; Ability to communicate effectively in English as related to the performance of the essential job activities (including reading and comprehending chemical labels and other safety materials); Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the work day; Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
