Freelance TikTok Strategist, Complex Bets

Complex is the definitive platform for global youth culture and music lifestyle, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge content, commerce and live experiences with unparalleled scale. The Producer for Complex Bets sits at the intersection of Video Production, Direction, and Creative Development within Complex’s video division. This position leads the execution of Complex Bets, a new to world Complex vertical channel that sits between sports and predictive markets.

Responsibilities

Develop, refine, and oversee the voice of Complex Bets across TikTok; Create, curate, and publish all content for the Complex Bets TikTok account; Identify and capitalize on trending sports, betting, and prediction market narratives; Lead community management, moderation, and audience engagement; Surface and pitch viral betting storylines, sports narratives, predictive market movements, and social-first content opportunities; Translate betting lines, futures, prop bets, prediction markets, and sports data into engaging, digestible TikTok content; Own key content pegs across major sports calendars; Work closely with editorial, video, design, commerce, partnerships, and events teams to develop TikTok-first coverage and campaigns; Execute promotion of Complex Bets content initiatives, live events, watch parties, partner activations, and commerce opportunities; Develop original real-time content around games, live events, breaking news, betting trends, internet memes, and cultural moments; Create reactive social content during live sporting events and major betting moments; Participate in editorial, content, and social brainstorms; Track analytics, audience behavior, platform trends, and betting-related social performance; Manage editorial publishing workflows and coordinate posting schedules; Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to streamline content production; Appear on camera as a personality and analyst for TikTok content; Develop recurring TikTok franchises, series, and content formats; Manage freelancers, creators, contributors, and interns as needed

Requirements

2–4 years of social media, editorial, sports media, or content experience at a publisher, sports brand, betting company, or media platform; Deep understanding of the Complex brand, audience, and voice; Strong knowledge of sports betting, gambling culture, fantasy sports, predictive markets, and sports media; Passion for sports, internet culture, and real-time conversation; Proven understanding of TikTok platform strategy, audience growth, and engagement optimization; Ability to quickly identify emerging narratives and trends before they reach peak virality; Excellent writing, editing, communication, and decision-making skills; Comfortable appearing on camera and developing a personal presence within content; Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays during major sporting events and tentpole moments; Strong understanding of responsible gaming guidelines and sports betting compliance considerations; Extensive knowledge of major sports leagues, athletes, sports media personalities, and online sports communities; Familiarity with prediction market platforms, odds movement, market sentiment, and betting-related social conversation; Ability to work cross-functionally and independently in a fast-paced environment; Self-starter with strong organizational and project management skills; Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, CapCut, and mobile-first content creation tools; Core Competencies: Entrepreneurial mindset, Deep understanding of sports culture and internet behavior, Strategic and analytical thinker, Audience-first decision maker, Strong news judgment, Creative storyteller, Action-oriented, Results-driven, Innovative and trend-forward, Thrives in fast-moving, real-time environments, Ability to anticipate cultural and market conversations before they break
