Gastroenterology Physician

Aya Locums has an immediate opening for a 26 week locum Gastroenterology Physician job in Plattsburgh, New York, paying $375/hr - $425/hr. Locum tenens gastroenterologist positions are temporary assignments, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals, outpatient clinics and other healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive system disorders in adults and potentially children (depending on the position); Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations; Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, X-rays, CT scans and blood tests; Perform endoscopic procedures to diagnose and treat digestive conditions (depending on the scope of practice); Develop and implement treatment plans; Manage chronic digestive conditions and provide ongoing patient care; Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists and other specialists when needed to ensure coordinated care; Educate patients on digestive health and disease prevention; Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients; Stay current on the latest advancements in gastroenterology through continuing education

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school; Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA); Board certification in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA; Active and unrestricted medical license in New York; At least one year of experience providing gastroenterology care in a clinical or hospital setting; In-depth knowledge of gastroenterology principles and practices, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of digestive diseases; Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams; Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for endoscopic procedures; Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing patient conditions; Time management and organizational skills to manage a patient workload effectively

Nice to have

Fellowship training in gastroenterology (may be preferred depending on the position); Technical proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures (if applicable)
