Head of Media

Mercury is one of the fastest growing companies in fintech, and one of the few that wants to be a premium consumer-facing brand. We're seeking the right person to shape and deliver our brand team's investment strategy and media approach, with huge financial and career upside as the company continues to grow. In this role, you will report to our Head of Brand and be responsible for amplifying our launches and company narrative across paid channels, with oversight on agency relationships, key partners, and measurement. This is an opportunity to build a unique and differentiated approach for a brand that's unafraid to think differently and challenge competitors.

Responsibilities

Own Mercury's media investment strategy, including building and executing the plan for a budget doubling year over year and deciding where, when, and how to invest across channels; Differentiate how Mercury shows up in market through a media and distribution approach that stands apart from the standard playbook, using unconventional channels, formats, partnerships, and creative use of media; Lead agency and media partners by setting the agenda, holding a high bar on their work, and sourcing, evaluating, and onboarding new partners; Build a measurement system for attribution, incrementality, and optimization that can support spend at scale and drive investment decisions; Connect media to the broader marketing ecosystem by integrating paid media with brand, performance, community, content, lifecycle, and product marketing

Requirements

15+ years building and running a media investment strategy on a fast-growing budget; Proven track record delivering and measuring short-term wins while putting lasting systems in place; Recognized track record of differentiated media work, not best-practices-driven; Think in systems and see media as part of a larger marketing engine; Fluent in attribution, incrementality testing, and media mix modeling, and able to turn analysis into leadership decisions; Track record of agency and vendor management, including assessing work and holding partners accountable
