HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT, MEDICAL WARD (SRI DELIMA)

Healthcare assistant role in the medical ward of KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital, providing basic nursing care and supporting trained staff with patient care, ward organization, facilities and equipment management, and safety and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

Provide basic nursing care aligned with the nursing services and hospital objectives; Notify nursing leaders of situations impacting quality of care; Conduct nursing rounds to assess patient needs and communicate with patients and families; Prepare and tidy patient beds and linens; Disinfect beds, furniture and equipment; Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living; Assist nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre; Escort patients for diagnostic tests and upon discharge; Dispatch specimens to the laboratory and collect results; Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies to maintain stock levels; Assist trained staff with nursing care such as hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines and catheterization; Record daily charges for ward items; Maintain patient intake and output charts; Lift, turn and position patients safely; Orient new staff to ward routines; Adhere to hospital policies, nursing code of conduct, patient confidentiality and infection control practices; Comply with patient safety policies, 5S activities and occupational safety measures; Contribute to the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative

Requirements

Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia; Able to converse fluently and write in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Have interpersonal and communication skills; Caring, honest, and responsible worker; Willingness to work on scheduled hours, shifts, weekends, public holidays and any time called during an emergency

Nice to have

Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority; Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage; Be a positive and effective team player or team leader
