Heavy Duty Mechanic

Purpose of this Position: This position aims to ensure optimal performance, safety and longevity of heavy duty vehicles and equipment, through expert maintenance, repair and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Ensuring optimal performance, safety and longevity of heavy duty vehicles and equipment, through expert maintenance, repair and troubleshooting; Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; Performing preventative maintenance, and conducting repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and standards; Minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting the overall productivity and safety of the work environment

Requirements

Must hold a valid Red Seal HDM certification; Able to identify possible safety hazards that may be encountered on the job site and describe corrective actions required; Capable of working at heights; Good troubleshooting skills and ability to read and interpret schematics and manuals; Good knowledge of the electrical components of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Valves, and actuators, and other mechanical equipment; Good knowledge of Diesel Engines, Transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Valves, and actuators; Good understanding of Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective Maintenance system including detailed reporting; Good communication skills; Willing to be Trained in the operation and maintenance of Quay Cranes, Rubber Tire Gantry, Aerial Lifts, Forklifts, Tractors, and other mobile equipment; Able to lift, carry, move, and transport up to 50 lbs; Able to ride compact elevators as necessary; Able to provide detailed reports on completed tasks; Able to perform other duties as assigned; Fluent in English; Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries
