Heavy Equipment Operator

The Heavy Equipment Operator is directly responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining the large earth moving equipment used in the extraction of limestone for a crushing and screening processing plant. Performs the operations of Bulldozer, Loader Operator, Haul Truck, Grader Water Truck, and other equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operating and maintaining large earth moving equipment; Performing operations of Bulldozer, Loader Operator, Haul Truck, Grader Water Truck, and other equipment as assigned; Keeping a clean and safe workplace; Performing pre-shift inspections; Maintaining communications with Quarry Manager; Attending scheduled safety meetings; Participating in Behavior Based Safety program; Supporting SQF initiatives and regulatory compliance

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or demonstrated skills or ability; Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week; Must be able to multitask with a strong sense of urgency; Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers; Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently; Must possess the basic reading and math skills; Must have good written and verbal communication skills; Strong record of attendance reliability; Must know, understand, and observe all department and plant safety rules; Must be physically able to perform work assigned; Ability to consistently lift over 40 pounds as needed

Nice to have

Previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience; Technical training or AA degree in technical related field; 3 – 5 years of experience
