Histologic Technician II - Anatomic Pathology; Full-Time, Monday through Friday night 3rd shift embedding position, with possibility of moving to 4x10s; Winston Campus

Responsibilities

Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building; Assures accurate and timely accessioning, labeling and billing of specimens, according to departmental practices; Assures accurate and timely processing and staining of specimens, according to departmental practices; Provides maximum care in identification procedures when processing patient specimens; Performs special stains and/or enzyme histochemical stains; Performs additional Anatomic Pathology Department laboratory procedures; Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education; Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department; Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases; Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing

Requirements

Associate's degree in applied science or high school diploma/GED with two years training as defined by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the National Society of Histotechnology

Nice to have

Three years' experience in a clinical histology lab preferred; HT (ASCP) certification preferred
