Internal Posting- SMC Quality Lab Tech

In this role you will have the opportunity to collect and enter data, receive the bulk chemicals as well as maintaining cleanliness of the receiving dock and bulk room, and produce and test the SMC material that is used to make fiberglass skins. You will have the opportunity to interact with logistics team through receiving materials, gain insights to testing equipment and calibrations. You will also develop requisitions for the lab and materials needed for testing.

Responsibilities

Collect and enter data; Receive bulk chemicals; Maintain cleanliness of the receiving dock and bulk room; Produce and test SMC material used to make fiberglass skins; Interact with logistics team through receiving materials; Gain insights to testing equipment and calibrations; Develop requisitions for the lab and materials needed for testing; Maintain safe work habits; Follow Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures; Maintain 5S/good housekeeping of the area; Obtain forklift operator license; Understand sheet line operation including operations of the mix room, machine operator, and backup for Festooner Operator; Perform quality checks and data entry of quality checks; Make adjustments to glass choppers; Understand hazardous materials and complete RCA training; Assist engineering with process improvements, data collection and trials; Assist with writing new and revising work instructions; Assist Quality team with calibration/repair; Assist with training back-up techs on all tasks and updates; Work with many types of equipment and chemicals; Ensure general housekeeping of lab and surrounding areas including cleaning equipment such as water baths; Ensure compliance under RCRA standards with all hazardous materials; Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School Graduate/HSE or equivalent manufacturing experience; Ability to obtain Forklift License; Ability to be certified in all LOTO procedures for respective area; Manage ambiguity while working through stressful situations; Positive attitude and a willingness to work with others; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to run respective inventory system (Great Plains, E21, MES etc.); Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to complete daily Pre-Use Inspection Sheets
