The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. Full-time entry level position Mon-Fri schedule 12:00pm- 8:30pm. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Edison, NJ are encouraged to apply. Compensation $17.50 plus eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis; Performing sample preparation including aliquoting, spiking and tracing samples, preparing reagents, bottling samples, preparing concentrations, separation, and sonication; Preparing water on soil samples for metals analysis; Performing digestions with concentrated acids; Learning the Eurofins Laboratory Information Management System; Learning the Mercury Analysis; Liquid rack set up; Resolving discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled; Preparing general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks; Washing laboratory glassware to prepare for next day's samples; Stocking laboratory supplies; Cleaning work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment; Assisting other laboratory areas as needed

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; Professional working proficiency in English, including ability to read, write and speak in English; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Comfortable with a fast paced time sensitive laboratory; Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts; Ability to use TALS; Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints; Ability to work independently following written or verbal instructions; Ability to cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing; Knowledge of analytical and/or general science; Scientific methods and method compliance; Strong mathematics background; Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures; Knowledge of laboratory procedures; Laboratory safety rules and chemical hazards; General knowledge of chemistry and/or general science; Basic mathematical skills; Production work; Good organizational skills; Good communication skills; Problem solving skills; Ability to multi-task; Quick learner; Work within time constraints; Physical requirements including lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 200 pounds, standing/walking/sitting for extended periods, stooping/kneeling/crouching/reaching, smelling for unusual odors, hand use for handling samples/instruments/data entry, conversational hearing and speaking, and vision for analyses/computer/paperwork; Perform other duties as assigned
