Manager, Software Engineering (Loans Lifecycle)

The Ledger Engineering team enables rapid financial product innovation by providing an audit-grade ledger platform that ties ambitious company growth to a highly regulated industry's real-world accounting controls. The team builds robust, fault-tolerant, highly scalable systems that enable on-time and precisely accurate financial interactions with consumers and institutional finance partners. Ledger Engineering works with finance partners on everything from closing monthly books to annual audits, and partners with the Capital Markets team on investor reporting. Responsibilities

Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and tie it together with critical, business-impacting projects; Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle with product management, design & analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks and trade-offs are well understood and managed; Act as a force-multiplier for the team through definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes; Take ownership of the team's operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerting to support "keep the lights on" & on-call efforts; Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards and advocating for them beyond the team through writing and tech talks; Develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example

Requirements

8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin; 2+ years of experience managing a software team; Extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes; Experience in financial systems, ledgering, treasury or adjacent domains where data accuracy and system reliability are critical; Understanding of how to manage a high performance team, delivering successfully by growing the team, coaching engineers, and aligning stakeholders; Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team; Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field
