MD, Agentic Fund Finance & Operations

We are hiring an MD, Agentic Fund Finance & Operations to own the finance function for the fund complex and the management company. This is a senior finance leadership seat reporting to the CEO. Equi is a team-first, flat and direct firm that builds multi-strategy funds and custom mandates for independent multi-family offices and advisory firms.

Responsibilities

Own the NAV cycle across every vehicle, the reconciliation between internal and provider views, and final sign-off before anything reaches investors; Own the close calendar and the standard it is held to; Own the annual fund expense budget, the allocation policy across vehicles, and re-billing between fund and management company; Partner with the CEO on corporate financials, burn, runway and board reporting; Own the firm's cash position across operating and fund accounts, and the controls and approval authority around every wire; Own the annual audit as counterpart to the auditor, the tax cycle, and the firm's regulatory and compliance positions with the compliance partner; Own fund documents, side letters and investor agreements; Own the financial and legal architecture of every new vehicle launch and take point with outside counsel; Set financial standards and controls for fund operations processes, jointly accountable with the Head of Fund Operations; Manage the provider network to a service standard; Build and direct agents and automations for intake, reconciliation, exception flagging and reporting, with production-grade checks; Build financial systems, a single financial source of truth, and documented procedures

Requirements

Eight to twelve years running or overseeing the financial operation of a fund complex (fund administrator, hedge fund, multi-strategy fund, private-markets manager, or outsourced fund-CFO practice); Knowledge of the NAV cycle and ability to find errors in a draft NAV; Experience with multi-layered fund structures; Agentic fluency, including agents and automations built in the last six months, with an account of what they changed and where they broke; Fund legal fluency, including working with fund counsel on launches, structuring and documentation, and reading PPMs, side letters and subscription agreements; Technical range beyond Excel (scripts, automations, small internal applications); Small-firm operating experience with hands-on work; Provider oversight of administrators, transfer agents, auditors, tax preparers, outside counsel, prime brokers and banks; Controls and judgment with confidential financial and investor information; Ownership of problems through to a finished state

Nice to have

Multi-strategy and multi-vehicle structures, especially layered arrangements; A legal background or qualification, or depth from years across the table from fund counsel; Offshore vehicles and the associated audit and filing cycle; ERISA and plan-asset monitoring; A CPA, or equivalent depth
