Responsibilities

Understands and satisfies the needs of patients in regards to their growth and development process; Prepares exam rooms to meet safety and clinical requirements; Directs patients and families to exam rooms; Obtains and documents patient's height, weight and vital signs and performs a manual blood pressure; Assists the physician in the exam process and with procedures as directed; Administers immunizations and other injections under the direction of the nurse practitioner and/or the physician; Performs point of care testing according to established policies; Performs peripheral blood draws; Collects and labels specimens and ensures delivery to the appropriate department; Transports stable patients to designated areas; Maintains clinic flow, monitoring patient location and wait time; Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment within the clinic area; Assures supplies and equipment are adequate and available; Communicates with physicians, leaders, and staff to maintain clinic operations

Requirements

High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED); BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council; Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment; Physical ability to lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as push and pull when performing cleaning functions; Frequently bends, lifts, twists, reached, and squats; Occasionally push/pulls and does overhead work

Nice to have

Graduate of medical assistant program; In lieu of this education, 6 months of experience in a patient care role; Experience in a primary care, urgent care, or specialty care pediatric setting; Experience in administering immunizations and other injections; CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
