Medical Assistant - Dermatology Clinic AMB 0.9FTE

Children’s Wisconsin is a nationally recognized health system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. This position is for a Medical Assistant in a Dermatology Clinic at 0.9 FTE. Essential functions include patient care, clinic operations, and supporting physicians and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

Understands and satisfies patient needs regarding growth and development; Prepares exam rooms to meet safety and clinical requirements; Directs patients and families to exam rooms; Obtains and documents patient's height, weight, vital signs, and performs manual blood pressure; Assists with collection and documentation of patient information; Assists physician in exam process and procedures; Administers immunizations and other injections under direction; Performs point of care testing; Performs peripheral blood draws; Collects and labels specimens; Transports stable patients and assists in transport of unstable patients; Obtains and transports medications; Responds to emergency situations; Maintains clinic flow, monitoring patient location and wait time; Maintains clean, organized, safe clinic environment; Assures supplies and equipment; Communicates with physicians, leaders, and staff

Requirements

High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED); BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council; Ability to work with a diverse patient population; Physical ability to lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds; Ability to push and pull when performing cleaning functions; Frequently bends, lifts, twists, reaches, and squats; Occasionally pushes/pulls and does overhead work; Provides care appropriate to patient population

Nice to have

Graduate of medical assistant program; In lieu of education, 6 months of experience in a patient care role; Experience in a primary care, urgent care, or specialty care pediatric setting; Experience in administering immunizations and other injections; CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
