Medical Assistant Sunrise Primary Care

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience. Full-time position, schedule varies between 7:00am-6:00pm, Mon-Fri. Work shift: Day. Department: PPA-Sunrise-Clinic. Job category: Clinical Care. Primary location: BUMG Primary Care Sunrise (6860 E Sunrise Dr, Suite 100), Tucson, Arizona.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for exams and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements, recording chief complaint and documenting pain scores; Report changes in patient condition to the clinician; Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate/pulse and temperature measurements, phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKGs; Act as chaperone as needed; Administer immunizations; Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; Communicate test results to patients; May administer medications per established policies or as directed; Provide clerical support, including patient notifications and complete medical record documentation; Provide accurate information for billing in a timely fashion; Maintain a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas; Perform basic equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs; Order supplies, stock patient care areas and handle medication ordering; Maintain effective communication with external and internal customers; Complete all onboarding/orientation activities, including simulation training; Work under the direct supervision of providers and interact with staff, physicians, patients, families and external contacts; Float to other BUMG locations on occasion to provide coverage

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge; Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations; Active Medical Assistant Certification (RMA, CMA, CCMA, or NCMA, with proof of current membership as specified); Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use; BLS certification required; Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion; Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for employees in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children, with an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit signed upon hire

Nice to have
