Medical Laboratory Technician

Part-time Medical Laboratory Technician position in the Lab department at Atrium Health Stanly, 301 Yadkin St, Albemarle, NC. Various shifts (day, night, and weekends) depending on needs. First shift hours are 6am-6pm and third shift hours are 6pm-6am. Works in a fast-paced clinical environment with biohazardous materials and chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event; Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense; Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem solving and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels; Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to regulatory requirements including CAP, TJC, OSHA; Maintains clear, real-time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department; Participates in planning and implementing change through staff meetings, task forces or projects; Willingly performs all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent education and training as defined by CLIA; MLT registry eligible or equivalent required; MLT (ASCP/AMT) or equivalent required within one year of hire; MLT (ASCP/AMT) certification through U.S. military medical laboratory training programs by an accredited institution is acceptable
