Nocturnist - Houston Methodist, Woodlands

Full-time nocturnist position at HM The Woodlands - Main Hospital Building with a 7-on/7-off schedule and 12-hour overnight shifts. The role involves inpatient care, emergency management, collaboration with care teams, documentation, quality improvement, and support of educational activities.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient care during overnight hours, including admissions, consultations, and management of acute medical conditions; Respond to and manage medical emergencies throughout the hospital; Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and ancillary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care; Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring providers regarding treatment plans and care transitions; Complete timely and accurate medical documentation in accordance with regulatory, compliance, and billing requirements; Participate in hospital quality improvement, patient safety, and performance initiatives; Support educational activities involving residents and medical students, when applicable

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution; Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine; Active Texas Medical License or eligibility to obtain Texas licensure; Demonstrated ability to manage complex and acutely ill hospitalized patients; Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development; Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Nice to have

Previous hospitalist or nocturnist experience; Two or more years of inpatient clinical experience
