Patient Care Associate - District Float Pool - Per Diem - MHS

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements.; Assists with transporting patients, as needed.; Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.; Assists with keeping patient rooms and areas stocked, clean and orderly.; Performs other duties as assigned.; Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required); BLS American Heart E-Card; BLS American Heart RQI E-Card; BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard; BLS Certification Grace; BLS Cert Red Cross; Minimum of one (1) year patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care; EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six (6) months of hire date; Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision; Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action; ACCOUNTABILITY; CUSTOMER SERVICE; ORGANIZATION SKILLS; PATIENT AND FAMILY CENTERED CARE; PATIENT SAFETY - ANCILLARY/SUPPORT; PROBLEM SOLVING; RESPONDING TO CHANGE; STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR
