Patient Safety Technician-Part Time Evenings

Northwestern Medicine Location: DeKalb, Kishwaukee Hospital. Part time, 40 hours every two weeks. 3:00 PM-11:30 PM. Rotating weekends and holidays. The Patient Safety Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

Remains at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by appropriate staff member; Provides calming and reorienting conversation with patient in cases of agitation or confusion; Identifies and removes hazards from the patient and patient's environment, and reports as appropriate; May assist patient with performing activities of daily living, as delegated by supervising RN; Provides continuous safety observation via continuous video monitoring, including offering comfort measures and addressing emotional needs; Remotely monitors multiple patients via continuous video monitoring, provides verbal redirection, and summons staff via communication device/STAT Alert Alarm when appropriate

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
