Pharmacy Technician - Outpatient Pharmacy

Assists pharmacist in the operation and maintenance of the pharmacy's drug distribution system, with a focus on quality, accuracy, patient care, and customer service. Prepares medication orders for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist. Processes orders through pharmacy computer system, operates automated medication management systems and technology, and physically prepares medication doses for pharmacist's review/approval prior to delivery to patients or patient care areas. Ensures that all work is completed in alignment with state, federal and local regulations.

Responsibilities

Assists pharmacist in the operation and maintenance of the pharmacy's drug distribution system, with a focus on quality, accuracy, patient care, and customer service; Prepares medication orders for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist; Processes orders through pharmacy computer system, operates automated medication management systems and technology, and physically prepares medication doses for pharmacist's review/approval prior to delivery to patients or patient care areas; Ensures that all work is completed in alignment with state, federal and local regulations; Performs medication area inspections for quality assurance; Monitors inventory levels to meet patient care needs; Employs courtesy and constructive communication with pharmacy colleagues, customers, patients, and all hospital staff; Triages phone calls and handles medication requests appropriately; Maintains patient confidentiality at all times; Utilizes medication delivery systems efficiently; Responds to urgent requests for medication delivery

Requirements

High School diploma required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience; Good moral character, including application of ICARE values required; Active certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (Currently PTCB) upon hire required
