Podiatry Radiography Asst

Performs technical radiographic assignments of diagnostic nature in a podiatry setting which require theoretical insight. Exercises skill, judgment and knowledge of the principles and methods of the radiographic technical field.

Responsibilities

Performs technical radiographic assignments of diagnostic nature in a podiatry setting; Facilitates patient flow and monitors room availability; Escorts patients from waiting area to exam rooms and notifies provider; Obtains and records initial patient vital signs; Anticipates specimen collection and prepares requisitions; Transfers, positions and instructs patients; Provides immobilization, shielding and dose modification devices; Operates X-ray equipment ensuring prescribed diagnostic procedure is delivered; Maintains accurate markings and ensures protection from radiation; Maintains patient and departmental records; Establishes/maintains inventory of supplies; Collects data for Quality Assurance; Establishes rapport with patients and works with podiatrists and nurses; Completes patient registration; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a patient care setting required; ARRT Radiography Certification or satisfactory completion of New York State Podiatric Medical Association Podiatric Radiography course for unlicensed individuals within 1-1/2 years required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to have

Associate's degree; Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience
