Postdoctoral Fellow 2 (Dr. Wenliang Li Lab)

At Houston Methodist, the Postdoctoral Fellow position is responsible for performing basic research duties under the supervision/direction of a Physician and/or Principal Investigator (PI). This position may work in a laboratory setting or may consist of computer work that supports the department's research mission.

Responsibilities

Performs basic research duties under the supervision/direction of a Physician and/or Principal Investigator (PI); May work in a laboratory setting or perform computer work that supports the department's research mission; Assists the physician and/or PI in maintaining the functionality and operations of the PI's laboratory; Develops research methods and performs research activities; Documents research results and writes reports for presentation and/or publication in professional journals and other publications; Follows safety rules, reports accidents promptly and communicates hazards; Participates in pertinent research activities, evidence-based practice projects and departmental projects

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited medical school or Terminal Degree in a related field; Postdoctoral experience based on level (Postdoctoral Fellow 0: none; 1: one year; 2: two years; 3: three years; 4: four years); Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job; Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform the essential functions of the job; Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers; Demonstrated knowledge of biomedical research; Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in the workplace
