Production Control Engineer II

To support and maintain the Buffalo Data Center. The team culture is easy going but we get the work done. We are not afraid to have the conversations and look to each other as sources of information to educate each other in areas we are not familiar with. Projects currently being worked are: updating cabling, cabinet consolidation, and documentation. This is in addition to our daily tasks of hardware installs, break fix, and decommissions.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain the Buffalo Data Center; Performs hardware installation and decommission of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure; Troubleshoots and repairs data center hardware and networking infrastructure; Racks and stacks data center equipment, including but not limited to servers, networking devices, monitoring systems and other equipment; Rack installation includes putting racks in place, cables, power up and hand off servers to internal provisioning teams; Manages daily operations of production control activities for systems software and hardware, data and applications; Works with product teams to define, architect and implement tools to enhance availability, scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance of IT environment; Ensures capacity planning for IT environment and implements performance metrics and event-driven alerting; Provides second-level production support and maintains system management tools; Participates in disaster recovery processes/exercises and ensures preventive maintenance activities; Ensures major revisions to applications in production are passed after thorough testing and proper documentation according to change management and software development life cycle; Recommends suitable software solutions and ideas for automating tasks of daily operations; Documents standard operating procedures and shares frequent progress reports/updates with required stakeholders; Performs other duties as assigned; Complies with all policies and standards

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field or equivalent experience; 2-4+ years of experience; Experience with data center infrastructure projects; Experience with structured cabling copper/fiber, testing of cables, cooling, and electrical systems concepts inside a data center; Ability to work independently; Willingness to work onsite; IT operations and administration; Managed health care environment and related industry regulations
