Radiology Technologist

Under the direction of the Department Manager, performs interpretive, patient care and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.

Responsibilities

Performs interpretive, patient care and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients; Confirms patient’s identity; Evaluates patient’s ability to understand and comply with requirements; Explains and confirms patient’s preparation; Examines radiographic requisition; Sequences imaging procedures; Provides for patient safety, comfort, and modesty; Practices standard precautions and isolation procedures; Prepares for administration of contrast media and observes patient for adverse reactions; Maintains confidentiality and documents required information on patient’s medical record; Follows radiation protection procedures to minimize radiation exposure; Prepares and operates radiographic, fluoroscopic, and digital imaging equipment; Produces and evaluates diagnostic images; Performs equipment maintenance and reports malfunctions; Fosters a Culture of Safety

Requirements

Minimum Work Experience: Six (6) months to be fully proficient; Required Licenses/Registrations: RT - Radiography Technology (MA state license) or RT Temp - Radiography Technology Temporary (MA state license); Required additional Knowledge and Abilities: Employees must produce their CEU records to their manager prior to start date and on an ongoing basis thereafter; License/Registration/Certification Requirements: Radiography Technology (MA) - Radiation Control Program (Massachusetts), Radiography Technology Temporary License (MA) - Radiation Control Program (Massachusetts)

Graduate of an approved two-year program
