Registered Dietitian - PRN - Medical Center

At Houston Methodist, the Executive Dietetic and Fitness Specialist PRN position provides expert assessment and guidance in alignment with the standards of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). The position evaluates clients' nutritional and fitness status using evidence-based assessment tools and delivers personalized plans that support long-term wellness and performance. It utilizes medical nutrition therapy to treat adult patients with complex comorbidities, manages high-demand executive clients requiring scalable, time-efficient interventions, and supports performance athletes seeking optimization of recovery, endurance, strength, and competitive output. The position also contributes to department planning, instruction, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement within Houston Methodist's Executive Health programs.

Responsibilities

Leads personalized discussions with clients, integrating active listening and patient education to develop comprehensive, sustainable lifestyle strategies; Promotes effective team dynamics using ICARE Values, compassionate communication, and peer-to-peer accountability; Serves as a resource for nutrition inquiries while upholding professional ethics standards; Performs health assessments and screenings, utilizing evidence-based knowledge to interpret results and deliver educational content on nutrition, metabolic health, fitness and longevity; Designs nutrition plans and provides actionable recommendations supporting health, wellness and longevity goals; Supports the executive health experience by anticipating client needs, streamlining services, and applying best practices in a concierge-level setting; Manages nutrition and lifestyle interventions for adult patients with complex comorbidities, ensuring plans are clinically appropriate, safe, and aligned with medical management; Collaborates with department physicians to align nutrition, wellness and fitness strategies with medical care plans; Documents all assessments, findings, and client education clearly and accurately in the EMR; Proactively identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement; Contributes to meeting department targets for quality and safety measures; Works efficiently to optimize daily schedule to support productivity and revenue goals; Provides an unparalleled service experience for executive clients; Seeks self-development opportunities and updates My Development Plan (MDP) on an ongoing basis

Requirements

Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s); Completion of dietetic internship accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; One year of clinical nutrition experience; LD - Licensed Dietitian, State Licensure (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation); RD - Registered Dietitian (CDR - Commission on Dietetic Registration); Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) by NASM, ACSM, or American Council on Exercise (ACE) within 6 months; Demonstrated skills and competencies to safely perform the job; Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English; Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers; Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and function calmly in stressful situations; Working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office products; Ability to access information within the department and hospital system
