Research & Development Intern

Responsibilities

The R&D Intern participates in laboratory analysis and pilot plant data acquisition for various types of evaporation and crystallization processes.; As part of the Research & Development team, you will work with Research Engineers and Research Chemists executing experimental protocols, meeting quality and schedule goals, and ensuring research objectives are achieved.; You will work on projects from the initial concept phase, through laboratory testing, data analysis, and protocol development.; Laboratory Support: Assist Research Engineers and Research Chemists in conducting laboratory analysis and pilot plant data acquisition for evaporation and crystallization processes; Equipment Monitoring: Monitor and maintain laboratory testing equipment, ensuring proper operation and data integrity; Data Collection & Analysis: Obtain, organize, and analyze experimental data; Engineering Calculations: Perform engineering design calculations related to research findings and process optimization under the guidance of experienced Research Engineers; Protocol Development: Assist in developing, documenting, and validating laboratory test protocols and standard operating procedures; Documentation: Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, project records, and technical documentation; Quality Assurance: Validate that all experimental data, test results, and technical documentation are completely and accurately recorded and consistent; Team Collaboration: Communicate findings and observations effectively with Research Engineers, Research Chemists, and cross-functional teams through written reports and verbal updates; Project Support: Assist with project issue resolution related to experimental design, testing, and data interpretation; General Support: Assist with additional research-related tasks as assigned

Requirements

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Good technical writing and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects; Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks at hand; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to follow laboratory safety protocols and procedures; Full-time availability for Summer 2027
