Research Technician

Performs complex laboratory assignments, planning and conducting experiments of limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Leads tasks associated with research activities and lab support for lower-level technicians. Serves as unit operations liaison to ensure compliance with departmental or University policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of University resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

Performing complex laboratory assignments, planning and conducting experiments of limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project; Leading tasks associated with research activities and lab support for lower-level technicians; Serving as unit operations liaison to ensure compliance with departmental or University policies, procedures, and defined internal controls; Ensuring accountability and stewardship of University resources; Utilizing new and innovative research techniques involving a high degree of skill and training; Performing moderate to complex analysis and calculation of data; Organizing and managing data, conducting tests, and performing statistical analysis on data using statistical software; Providing technical oversight to lower-level research technicians; Coordinating the training and performance of lower-level technicians and students; Working closely with Principal Investigator and other research staff to modify or develop new procedures and policies; Keeping current with industry standards, best practices, and trends in health sciences

Requirements

High School diploma or GED and 5 years experience with performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities; compiling and collecting data and preparing reports required; Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and scientific methods required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to have

Associate's degree in Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or other science related field of study
