Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization; Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances; Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources; Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate; Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel; May precept student nurses and new hires; Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and/or psychosocial support needs

Requirements

Accredited Program: Nursing; BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association; BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association; BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association; BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential; BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross; Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) - Compact RN Multistate; Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida; One (1) year of nursing experience required; Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision; Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action; Department specific credentials as noted (ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for those RNs administering chemotherapy; APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card required within 12 months of hire for those RNs administering chemotherapy for oncologic indication within the pediatric setting; ACLS required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op and Specialty Procedural areas; PALS required for Pediatric areas with exception of NICU; NRP certification required for NICU; Certification in Fetal Monitoring for L&D RNs; RN Fellowship Program requires one year of RN independent practice not inclusive of nurse orientation; RN Fellowship specialties require ACLS and BLS; Newly licensed RNs have six months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS)
