Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in University buildings such as residence halls, hospital, administration/academic buildings, etc. Work shift: UR - Night. Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Supervision exercised: None.

Responsibilities

Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in University buildings such as residence halls, hospital, administration/academic buildings; Operates a variety of light or heavy duty housekeeping and floor maintenance machines and equipment to strip, wax and buff floors; Performs cleaning and disinfecting procedures by fogging rooms and washing floors, walls, furniture and fixtures with germicidal detergents; Washes walls, ceilings and stairs; cleans overhead equipment such as vents and light fixtures; vacuums rugs, furniture, draperies; Takes down, washes and rehangs venetian blinds and screens; washes windows inside and outside; Empties wastebaskets and trash into pickup containers and loads large dump truck; Cleans kitchens, dining areas; Performs custodial-type duties such as moving equipment/furniture, tightening doorknobs, changing light bulbs, and shoveling snow; Maintains cleanliness of work storage closet and equipment

Requirements

Requires ability to understand and carry out oral instructions; Stands, walks, bends and reaches continuously; Handles heavy and medium-weight material, equipment and supplies; Is normally exposed to refuse, dirt, dust, detergents, body wastes and odors indoors and outdoors; occasionally exposed to the possibility of contacts with infection and infectious diseases
