Senior Accountant, (Finance Compensation)

Job Description Summary: Lead the process of setting business targets and monitoring business performance, advise on the financial consequences of major decisions, lead the process of reporting financial and managerial data, and make recommendations targeted at improving and safeguarding financial results. Job Description: Under limited supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to prepare financial statements and other financial analysis reports for complex business units and to analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts. Limited guidance is provided to perform varied, complex accounting functions with responsibility for making extremely complex decisions. Evaluation, originality and ingenuity are required to locate, select and apply appropriate procedures, processes and techniques to specific assignments. Resolves or recommends solutions to complex problems. Regular contact with senior management and other internal customers is required to identify, research, and resolve accounting issues and problems.

Responsibilities

Lead the process of setting business targets and monitoring business performance; advise on the financial consequences of major decisions; lead the process of reporting financial and managerial data; make recommendations targeted at improving and safeguarding financial results; prepare financial statements and other financial analysis reports for complex business units; analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts; use general ledger accounting software to prepare monthly financial statements and reports; research and make recommendations to resolve unusual or irregular transactions; reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare analyses and complete other monthly general ledger closing procedures; analyze general ledger accounts to identify unusual or irregular transactions and make recommendations to resolve; prepare/review reports of financial information for management; respond to internal/external auditor issues and problems; research issues regarding application of GAAP to allocating costs and preparing financial statements; identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency in processing or analyzing financial information; assist in training others; resolve complex accounting problems; perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance; Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in preparing and analyzing financial information; Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources; General Experience - 3 to 6 years; Manager Experience - 13 months to 3 years; Advanced accounting concepts, practices and procedures; Accounting software packages; Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); Reviewing, interpreting and analyzing financial statements; Resolving unusual transaction and accounting discrepancies; Preparing financial statements and management reports; Researching GAAP issues; Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets and complex databases; Ability to implement changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances; Ability to make independent decisions and solve more complex accounting problems; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels; Ability to explain or clarify financial information to all levels of management; Ability to provide training to others; Ability to organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment; Ability to provide a high level of customer service
