Sr. Manager, Data Science

Hims & Hers, a public health and wellness platform, is hiring a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead its UK data science team as it is established alongside the company's new UK technology hub. The role is both a technical leader and people leader, reporting to the Director of Data Science (based in the US) and operating as one team with US-based data scientists.

Responsibilities

Help establish the UK data science team, shaping working norms, technical culture, and onboarding; Operate the UK team as a single function with the US-based data science organization; Partner with the Director of Data Science and the US team to prioritize competing requests from Marketing, Operations, Product, and Finance into a shared roadmap; Review designs and code to catch technical decisions early without writing production code day to day; Step into high-ambiguity problems on the roadmap and make tie-breaking technical calls; Establish and enforce technical standards (code review, documentation, model monitoring, experimentation rigor); Take accountability for team 0-to-1 builds shipping, running reliably in production, and delivering business outcomes

Requirements

8+ years of experience in Data Science or ML Engineering; 2+ years directly managing data scientists or ML engineers; Track record of joining or helping shape a brand-new team, office, or region from an early stage; Experience working on or leading a team split across countries or significant time zones; Proven people leadership, including developing and retaining data science talent and calibrating performance; Strong enough in Python, SQL, and applied ML (regression/classification, time-series, causal methods) to review and unblock technical decisions; Demonstrated ability to sequence a roadmap across competing stakeholder demands with limited headcount; Comfortable translating technical work into a narrative for senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders; Familiarity with production ML systems (cloud environments, CI/CD, ML Ops); BS, MS, or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent experience

Nice to have

US/UK collaboration experience within a company still establishing its presence in one of those regions; Experience leading or reviewing customer behavior and propensity modeling (churn, propensity-to-buy, lead scoring, LTV); Experience leading or reviewing applied forecasting (time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, demand/revenue planning under limited data); Experience leading or reviewing optimization (marketing spend, inventory, resource allocation engines); Experience leading or reviewing marketing measurement (marketing mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, incrementality testing); Healthcare, DTC/subscription, or pharma background
