Staff Product Manager, AI Applications

Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. Deepgram is building its own line of AI applications that put its voice AI directly in the hands of knowledge workers and consumers, and these applications are a new revenue stream for the company. The Staff Product Manager will define that line and build it into a profitable business. This is a product management role in which the candidate owns the product, its direction, and its decisions, while engineering builds it. The role reports to the VP of Self-Serve.

Responsibilities

Own the strategy for Deepgram's AI applications, deciding which products the line consists of, who they are for, and why they win; Own the roadmap and its decisions, including what ships, in what order, and with which tradeoffs; Build the business through acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization, with metrics, targets, and a weekly read of product and business performance; Represent the product with partners and customers and own what the company commits to deliver and when; Run the team's operating rhythm with real usage by real people as the bar, starting with Deepgram's own employees as first users; Partner daily with research, engineering, design, and marketing; Prototype mockups, wireframes, and working prototypes

Requirements

Excellent product management judgment, including owning product and roadmap, setting direction, deciding under uncertainty, shipping outcomes, and leading cross-functional work without authority; A shipped consumer or prosumer application that people chose and paid for (required), including ownership of its funnel and business as well as its features; Zero-to-one product definition, taking a product from idea to a first version that real users adopted; Deep AI fluency proven by shipped work (required), including having built and shipped AI into end-user applications and having strong, specific opinions on where models help, where they fail, and how to verify their output; Technical depth in reasoning with engineering about models, latency, privacy, and platform tradeoffs, reading code, and prototyping; Design sense in building simple, effective interfaces and communicating through mockups and prototypes grounded in user research and testing; The judgment to distrust a number before building on it; Clear communication with executives, leading with the decision and staying steady under pushback

Nice to have

Experience building native desktop or mobile applications (Windows, macOS, iOS); Experience shipping a product through distribution partners, on someone else's platform and calendar; Experience with voice, audio, or real-time systems; Time in a company with both a self-serve and an enterprise motion
